1916-17c. Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co., Pittsburgh, PA., U.S.A. 56" Antique Ceiling Fan, Fully Restored, Molted Copper Oxide Finish, Custom Antique Blades
This model enjoyed a relatively long life (1909-24c.) in the Westinghouse line up. Early versions of this fan were manufactured in Pittsburgh when they spelled it Pittsburg. Westinghouse originally offered this model in two finishes. The standard being a black japan enameled finish and the optional molted copper oxide finish.
The unconventional movement (the entire center section of the motor revolves) of this model creates a unique atmosphere and allows this model to be installed on lower ceilings.
Period company literature proclaims " The Westinghouse ceiling fans have proved a very great success owing to their effectiveness as well as to their ornamental design. These fans are very economical to operate, requiring only about the same current as two standard incandescent lamps."
Our featured Westinghouse 56" antique ceiling fan was restored for Charlotte Lekakos(Willard and Palmer Design), a featured designer, who designed the guest suite in the Charity Work's Greenhouse showcase house in McLean Virginia in October 2009. We were honored to have one of our ceiling fan's requested for her room as Charlotte realized that our fans are the original green machines! We supplied the antique Westinghouse with a set of reclaimed custom blades that were manufactured by a creative "Fanologist" some 75 years ago. This fan proves you do not have to sacrifice style or performance when you "go green". Use a VintageFans.com antique or vintage ceiling fan and experience the ultimate in style and performance, while using a machine that was originally manufactured 60 to 100 years ago and more. Made in the U.S.A.,....Twice!!!
